We recognise that becoming a new Person in Charge can be a daunting, yet exciting, career development. You’ve now reached the pinnacle of your nursing home career. Congratulations! The roles and responsibilities of the Person in Charge are never-ending. You will be required to be knowledgeable and up-to-date with all new and emerging legislative policy and practice changes and be capable of simultaneously leading and managing a healthcare team. Let us help you navigate the minefield and give you the support, information and confidence to succeed and excel. As a Registered Provider, you have no doubt already invested heavily in the recruitment and selection process. In 2018, Governance and Management was consistently among the top five non-compliances in all published HIQA inspection reports. This programme will equip your newly recruited Person in Charge with the support and confidence to interact with and respond successfully to regulators; assist them to work smarter and more efficiently and most importantly to focus on what matters most: the delivery of care.
Key components:
- 12 month duration (with option to extend)
- Initial site visit and induction training, focusing on the roles and responsibilities of the PIC
- Weekly scheduled telephone call (for first three months) followed by monthly thereafter with additional on-call and unlimited email/ telephone support (office hours), where required
- Assistance with reviewing and responding to first draft inspection report and monitoring of compliance plan progress
- Quarterly regulation-focused presentations (online) on most frequently inspected regulations and general compliance in the sector which can be used to benchmark practice (N.B. Data sourced from NHI Strategic Plan review of HIQA inspection reports)
- Access to a suite of dedicated resources to aid compliance (e.g. self-assessment audits; sample documentation templates, etc)
